Eastern Standard Time (EST)
Eastern Standard Time (EST) is the standard-time clock used in the Eastern Time zone at UTC−05:00, five hours behind Coordinated Universal Time.
EST is used during the standard-time part of the year in Eastern Time regions of the United States and Canada. Some Caribbean and nearby regions also keep a UTC−05:00 clock year-round, although their official local name may differ.
EST is a fixed standard-time code and does not change its own offset. Most Eastern Time locations switch to Eastern Daylight Time (EDT, UTC−04:00) on the second Sunday in March and return to EST on the first Sunday in November; some places stay on standard time all year.
Central European Time (CET)
Central European Time (CET) is the standard-time clock used across much of continental Europe at UTC+01:00, one hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time.
CET is standard time in countries including France, Germany, Italy, mainland Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. National boundaries and overseas territories can use different zones.
CET is a fixed standard-time code. Countries following the European seasonal schedule switch to Central European Summer Time (CEST, UTC+02:00) on the last Sunday in March and return to CET on the last Sunday in October.
EST to CET Formula
Add 6 hours to EST to get CET. The formula uses the UTC offset difference for these time zones.
